Under the Bethlehem Star

When the town of Bethlehem is mentioned, usually we think of the birth of Jesus, with Mary, Joseph, shepherds, and angels. We think of wise men following a star to find and worship the newborn King. And yes, that is the most important Biblical story associated with Bethlehem.
However, there is another, found in the Old Testament book of Ruth. The story mostly takes place in Bethlehem. It starts out tragically, but as the story progresses, new life is brought forth. Though there is no star in this story, there are other things: hope, peace, love, and joy. And as the story unfolds, these shine brighter and brighter.
In this season of Advent, join us “Under the Bethlehem Star,” as we discover the various ways that the book of Ruth is deeply connected to the birth of our Savior.
